In the Springtime, birds like to make a home in our chimneys, as chimneys can supply them with the heat from our homes to raise their eggs. Unfortunately, this can be very dangerous for fireplaces that are in use as it can block the flue resulting in the chimney not drawing effectively. The most common signs of this are twigs in the fireplace or feathers or the smoke backing up in the room. A blockage can be very harmful especially if you have a gas or Park ray type fire because of the emission of carbon monoxide. The chimney of an open fire may become blocked resulting in smoke entering the room or even a potential chimney fire.
